When I restarted my computer this morning a smaller black screen appeared (after restart).?

On the top of the window it said something like windows system 32 cmmd( for some reason I want to say that it stood for command ). Nothing ever appeared on the black screen. Then I hit ctrl-alt-delete. Now it seems to be running normal but I would still like to know why, before something happens and it completely quits. Thanks in advance.
