IMovie help for Mac 10.6.7?

I'm on the Mac 10.6.7 and I accidentally put a song in my movie, and I don't want it! I tried clicking on the song and pressing "delete" but it wont delete it! Also, part of it is green and part of it is purple! PLEASE HELP! Grrr!!
