I want to ask about dsi and R4 cards?

i updated my R4i card the other day because i accidentally updated my dsi to version 1.42, then my r4i card didnt work anymore, obviously as version 1.42 blocks flash cards. Anyway i managed to use someone elses dsi to update my R4i card with the newest kernel 1.40b and also the new version 1.42 patch and it worked, i now have my menu and all my games back. however i need to access the shop and for some reason its now telling me to update the shop whichi shud have updated during the install of version 1.42 so now im left stumped cos ive updated my flash card and i dont want to update the shop incase it undoes all my hard work, what do i do now? shall i leave it or update cos i dont have the internet browser on my dsi anymore and i want it but i want my R4i to work more lol, any help would be appreciated thanks
